There are many types of patio lights for your garden patio. In order to decide which kind you want, you have to decide what your goals are. Are these decorative patio lights? Are they to provide maximum nighttime vision? Do you want to create a warm evening atmosphere?
Next you need to decide the best method to power your patio lights. One of your first decisions will be to decide between solar patio lights, and electric patio lights. Do you have a backyard, patio, or garden which you can easily run a cable around and an outdoor plug – the necessities for electric patio lights? If not, or if you want your lights in more obscure or less restricted areas, you may want to consider solar lights. However, one requirement for solar lights is that they receive enough sunlight during the day – so in a dark corner under tree cover may not be the best location for solar powered lights. However, if you have a large space to cover, and don’t want all your lights close together then solar lights may be the best option. There are also battery patio lights which could be a good option if you want some lights for parties but not for every day use, as replacing batteries can be expensive, and not the best environmental choice.
So now that you’ve got the logistics figured out, it’s time to start thinking about what style of lights you are interested in. This is the fun part. There are string patio lights, which are similar to the string Christmas lights with are quite common. There’s also lantern patio lights, tiki patio lights… the list goes on! You can have patio post lights, which might be ideal for lighting up a walkway. There are patio umbrella lights, which may be how you want to light up your patio set and outdoor eating area. Tiki patio lights and lantern patio lights would be a good option to create a fun atmosphere, and provide a lot of light.
Adding an evening glow to your patio can create a warm and inviting atmosphere, can keep parties stretching late into the evening, allow for nighttime pool parties, or create a romantic atmosphere for a party of two.
